About the Band

When originally formed by songwriter, guitarist and vocalist Alexander Harrison, Alexander and the Greats was envisioned to be a conventional blues band with a style built around the sounds of such legends as B. B. King and Buddy Guy, and the award-winning Kansas City-based blues band Trampled Under Foot.  After the first few rehearsals, however, it became apparent that the strong influences on each of the band members by the distinguished rock artists of the times would steer this band in a much more varied direction.  Inspiration from the likes of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Bonamassa, Led Zeppelin, ZZ Top and Gov’t Mule, along with many traditional blues musicians has served to shape a remarkably unique sound from this innovative 3-piece band.  Alexander, bassist Connor Wingate and drummer/vocalist Jim Cavanagh deliver tunes performed by the above mentioned artists and more, but that’s only the beginning. The ever-growing list of originals including “Heart of Gold”, “Red Bank”, “Heart of Fire”, “Shame”, “Worker’s Blues” and “Heart of Stone” are a must-listen for rock lovers and blues enthusiasts alike. Alexander and the Greats packs a big sound fit for any venue, from small clubs to large arenas, and for any event with a crowd in-tune to a dynamic fusion of rock and blues.
